4. Your content and the licence you grant
You keep the rights to what you create. You confirm that you created it or have the right to publish it, that it does not infringe anyone's rights, and that it is lawful.
Published trails. When you publish a trail you license it to everyone under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Anyone may copy, adapt and use it, including commercially, as long as they credit you (your handle and a link to the trail). This keeps the trail library a commons that other sailors can build on. The licence is irrevocable for copies already made, but you can unpublish or delete a trail at any time. If you delete your account, trails you published remain available, shown as by "Former member", unless you choose to delete them too or ask us to remove them later. Private drafts are not licensed to anyone.
Everything else you publish (recipes, ratings, profile details, photos) is yours; you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it as part of the service for as long as it is published.
Third-party data. Maps, place data and photos shown with trails come from other sources under their own licences (see Data sources and attribution). The CC BY licence covers what you created, not that third-party material.
AI-assisted content. If you publish a trail that an AI helped draft, you are responsible for reviewing it. Publishing means you stand behind it.
